25 Year Old Letitia Wright is a British-Guyanese actress. She is known for her portrayal of Shuri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning in 2018 with Black Panther (2018) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and for the film Urban Hymn (2015). She has also starred in The Commuter (2018) and Ready Player One (2018), and in the 2017 Black Mirror episode Black Mirror: Black Museum (2017). Her film debut was Victim (2011).
In 2018, Letitia was crowned the box-office queen after displaying her sharp wit on display as Shuri, princess of Wakanda in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War
After winning the Rising Star Category at the British American Film Academy Award 2019, during her acceptance speech, Letitia shares her amazing journey of struggling with mental health and her christian faith,
She chose the moment to encourage those going through depression or a bad time, saying: “God loves you, let your light shine.”
“A few years ago I saw myself in a deep state of depression and I literally wanted to quit acting,” she said. “The only thing that pulled me out of it was God, my belief, my faith and my family, and an email from #BAFTA asking me to become part of the #BAFTA Breakthrough Brits.” She proudly proclaimed the name of Jesus.
Meanwhile, in another interview with Premier Gospel, UK, Letitia revealed God had previously instructed her to put her acting career on hold after she prayed to want to know Him more. During this time, she swore never to go into acting again until God gave her a go-ahead, saying acting was her ministry.
Although she desired to only seek God for the rest of her life, God gave her her acting role back because she decided to trust HIM. She said the reality of Matthew 6:33 is at work in her life.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these. things shall be added unto you.
